Fleet Precheck
What it is and who it is for
Fleet Precheck is the daily heavy vehicle check, done right, online or off. It confirms which vehicle is being checked, guides the driver through an NHVR aligned checklist, and works with gloves on and no signal. Fleet Precheck is currently a research preview, which means it is early and evolving, and we are working closely with operators to get it right.
It is for transport operators, fleet managers and the drivers who do the walk around every day. If your daily checks live on paper, get done inconsistently, or pile up as records nobody can find when it matters, this is built for you.
The problem it solves
Keeping a heavy vehicle safe and roadworthy is a duty every operator and driver carries under the Heavy Vehicle National Law, and the daily check is how most people meet it, but the way it is usually done works against it. Paper forms get skipped, filled in from memory, or lost. It is hard to be sure which vehicle a check belongs to. Signal is unreliable in yards and on the road, so app based checks that need a connection fail exactly where the check happens. And when an auditor asks for records, finding them is a scramble.
Fleet Precheck makes the check something a driver can actually complete, every time, with the record captured cleanly no matter where they are.
How it works end to end
- Messy input. A driver stands at a vehicle, often with gloves on, sometimes with no signal.
- AI proposes. Barcode identity confirms exactly which vehicle it is, and the system presents the right NHVR aligned checklist for it.
- A person confirms. The driver works through the checklist and confirms each item, raising exceptions where something is not right.
- Proof and outcome. The completed check becomes an audit ready record, and any exception flows to the hub for someone to action.
Key capabilities
Barcode identity and an NHVR aligned checklist
The driver scans a barcode to confirm the vehicle's identity, so there is no doubt about which vehicle the check belongs to. The system then presents an NHVR aligned checklist for that vehicle, so the walk around covers what it should and the record is tied to the right asset.
Offline first and glove friendly
Fleet Precheck is offline first. The check works with no signal and syncs when connection returns, so a yard black spot never stops a check being completed and recorded. It is glove friendly, designed for the reality of a driver doing a walk around in work gloves rather than tapping tiny buttons.
Exception based hub
Managers do not need to read every completed check. The hub is exception based, so it surfaces the checks that raised an issue and lets the routine passes sit as records. Attention goes to what needs attention, and review time does not grow just because the fleet does.
Audit ready records
Every check becomes an audit ready record. When an auditor or a customer asks, the record is there, tied to the right vehicle, with what was checked and when. There is no scramble through paper.
A typical day or workflow
A driver arrives at the depot, walks to the truck and scans its barcode. The right checklist appears and they work through it, gloves on, in a yard with no signal. One item is not right, so they raise it as an exception with a note. They finish the check and head off. When the device reaches signal, everything syncs. Back in the office, the fleet manager opens the hub and sees only the exceptions, including the one raised this morning, and actions it. The dozens of clean checks completed across the fleet sit quietly as records. When a compliance review comes around, the records are ready.
Setup and getting live
You register your vehicles and apply the barcodes, and confirm the checklists that apply to your fleet. Drivers install the app and start scanning. Because the check is offline first and the hub is exception based, there is very little to configure, and pilots get running quickly. As a research preview, we work alongside your team to tune it to how you operate.
Security, privacy and localisation
Fleet Precheck is Australian hosted in the Sydney region, and our practices are ISO 27001 and SOC 2 aligned. The checklist is NHVR aligned for Australian heavy vehicle operation. Records are captured offline and synced securely, and every check is an audit ready record tied to a confirmed vehicle identity.
FAQ
What does research preview mean for us? It means Fleet Precheck is early and still evolving. We work closely with operators in this phase, so your feedback shapes it, and you should expect it to keep improving.
Will it work where there is no signal? Yes. It is offline first. Checks complete without a connection and sync when signal returns.
How do I know a check belongs to the right vehicle? The driver scans a barcode to confirm the vehicle's identity before the checklist appears, so every record is tied to the right asset.
Do managers have to read every check? No. The hub is exception based. It surfaces the checks that raised an issue and lets routine passes sit as records.
Is the checklist compliant? The checklist is NHVR aligned. A person confirms each item, so the check is completed and recorded by the driver, not assumed.
Is it hard for drivers to use? It is glove friendly and designed for a real walk around, so drivers can complete a check without fiddling with small controls.
